Zlatni Rat

A pale pebble cape reaches into the sea beneath Brač’s southern slopes. Come for the unmistakable shape; choose your swimming side according to the wind, rather than the photograph.

01 / The practical guide

Where is it?

West of Bol on the south coast of Brač, in central Dalmatia. This is a pebble beach, despite the sandy appearance of many aerial photographs.

02 / The practical guide

How do you get there?

Use Bol as your base and follow the seafront approach west towards Zlatni Rat. If arriving on Brač by ferry, allow for the onward island journey: the ferry port is not the beach.

03 / The practical guide

Where can you park?

Plan to leave the car in a designated parking area above the beach and complete the approach on foot. Current tariffs and space availability have not been verified; check signs before leaving your vehicle.

04 / The practical guide

Is there natural shade?

Pines behind the cape provide a retreat from the sun. The projecting tip is exposed, so do not expect natural shade beside every swimming spot.

05 / The practical guide

What is the beach and seabed like?

Small pebbles continue into the water. Depth and exposure vary around the cape; assess the entry on the day and bring water shoes if pebbles are uncomfortable.

06 / The practical guide

Is it accessible?

The promenade approach and the final transfer onto loose pebbles are different access questions. A continuous wheelchair route and working bathing equipment have not been confirmed for this guide; contact the local operator before travel.

07 / The practical guide

What facilities are available?

Bol’s beach area offers seasonal refreshments and water-sport services. Ask providers directly about opening dates, rental prices and supervised swimming areas.

08 / The practical guide

When is the best time to go?

Our planning suggestion: go early on a settled day, particularly in July and August. June or September can make the approach more relaxed; wind and water conditions still determine the swim.

Make it a stay

Where should you stay nearby?

Stay in Bol for a beach holiday with a walkable waterfront. Compare accommodation west of the harbour if beach access is your priority; check the actual walking route rather than straight-line distance.

What else is nearby?

Pair the beach with Bol’s harbour and old streets. A return to the mainland is a separate travel leg, so avoid scheduling it too tightly after a beach afternoon.
